Post 5: Changes to my study programme

As you probably know by now, I’m currently studying Dentistry, and I’m in the second year of the career, and even if I love what I’m study and I don’t have big issues with the subjects I have to study or the workload and length of studies, which I sometimes don’t enjoy though, I’m not that happy with the faculty facilities in general, like study areas, library, green areas and classrooms.

In my opinion I think we need more study areas, but specially places where we can have group’s study sessions so we could talk and discuss the subject we are studying, because we have some places where we can study, like the library, but you can't talk at all since it seems the walls of the rooms are thin as paper and your voice could be listen in all the place.

I also think that we don’t have enough classrooms considering the number of students, so I suggest building more classrooms since the faculty have just enough of them and sometimes it’s not even enough and we have to cut the class before it really ends.

The third thing I suggest improving is the preclinic rooms, because we really need to buy new basics items for it and fix the tubs, the lights along other things so we can practice without disadvantages.

Finally, there aren’t enough green areas where we could rest, eat, and distract ourselves, especially considering we shared them with another faculty, and I think that having a place to just rest that it's specially thought for that reason it’s really important for our metal health.

Post 4: Time travel to the Past

If the time machine were invented, I wouldn’t think twice before to take the chance to travel by my own and without any company to the past, specifically to the United Kingdom on the 80’s since I’ve always like the British culture so I would like to see it with my own eyes in this period. I also choose this time in specific because there are two things that I want to do if I would travel back in time.

The first thing I would do if I were able to travel to the UK on the 80’s, it would be met the princess Diana or at least I would go to see her, because I’ve liked her for a long time.

The second thing I would it’s to go to the Queen’s concert at Wembley that took place in the 1986 because it’s one of my favorite’s concerts of Queen and in general actually, not only of the band.

And obviously, I would get to know more about the British culture, and I would visit all the places I could.

Even if I consider that the United Kingdom it’s a beautiful country to stay, in that time and now, I would stay there just for a couple of years, maybe just 2 years, I definitely wouldn’t like to stay there in the 80’s forever because it’s wasn’t a friendly moment for me since I’m part of the LGBTQ+ community, so the 80’s wasn’t a really safe time for me.

Blog 3: My future job

I'm currently studying dentistry and I'm in the second year of my career. Until now the career have been a total roller coaster, where I'vehad very good times during  this two years and other lower moments (really lower, where everything seems too much to keep going), but perhaps the not-so-good moments, I really enjoy what I'm studying and I have so much plans for my life related with my future job as a dentist.

First things first, I would love to work in the public area, doing my best to change at least a little the attention in hospitals, so at the moment I'm doing a little research here and there to know more about it. And also I want to open my own clinic so I can have a little more independent with my work and the way i can help people.

Second, I'm definitely thinking of taking the oromaxil facial pathology major because for me it's a very interesting topic and what I have experienced so far, has made me want to keep learning more about this major.

Considering these two points I expected to have a busy week of work but I don't want to work more than 5 days per week, cause I strongly believe that it's important to take care of your self (physically and mentally) so you can be good and you can help people better. And also I would like to make a little bit more than enough money to live in peace so I could buy things I want, like concerts tickets, plane tickets, clothes.

Finally, at some point of my like I want to live and work in another country, although I have not think which country yet I know I would love to leave Chile on the future for a couple of years (or the rest of my life haha)

The best concert I've had

I've always loved music, especially live music, I just think that it is something you can’t really explain about listening and seeing an artist perform their music and express themselves through it and I've had the opportunity to experience this a couple of times in my life.

The best concert experience this far was seeing Louis Tomlinson live in Santiago in 2022, who is one of my favorite artists. He has two solo albums and was a member of the band one direction and he has been making music by himself since 2016.

Everything about that day was special and mind blowing, I still can’t believe that happened. The crowd was really engaged and were very excited since the beginning even before the opening act started, the artist interacted throughout the show with his audience in many opportunities, the band sounded great, and don’t make me talk about how Louis sounded. Another reason that makes this day so emotional, special, and important for me is that I could go with two of my closest friends. We get together to the venue and eat some food, take some pictures to remember the moment and enjoyed the music the place was playing while we were waiting.

A country I would like to know: New Zealand

I have always wanted to travel around the world and visit different countries, so a couple of years ago I started to do a list of all the places I would like to visit. One of the countries on my list is New Zealand, which is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.

There are so many reasons why I want to go to New Zealand. The first thing that get my complete attention was the nature and wildlife of this country. The breath-taking landscapes, turquoise lakes and the beautiful mountains just blow my mind. So, some of the first things I would do there, is visit the Waitomo glowworm caves, the Marokopa falls (one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country) and the craters of the moon (a geothermal walk where the craters steam active). I would also love to camp for the night, because people said that the sky looks beautiful, and I felt in love with the pictures that I have seen of it.

Another thing about New Zealand that I find interesting, is the culture, so I would love to take tours so I can experience the different performing arts and ceremonies and know about the food and traditions of the Māori culture.

Finally, in New Zealand you can find the Hobbiton movie set, and they celebrate the international hobbit day with a full day of activities, and it would be a dream for me to get to experience this because I really like the Lord of the rings and The hobbit.
